Mirador
Instant Messenger offers the ability to send
text Messages for instant delivery to any
number of users anywhere in your
organization. Using MIM will give you
immediate awareness as to the presence and
availability of the person to be contacted
and you may review at any time the history
of all communications having been
exchanged. MIM is a complete collaboration
software with a whole range of useful
functions that you will start using every
day to speed up communication. When using
MIM, you can send messages and files;
establish a remote connection to another PC,
start real-time meetings and much more.
Mirador Instant Messenger is run under the
control of an administrator who may choose
to restrict privileges to certain users.
Before using Mirador
instant Messenger, the administrator should
perform a set of activities to ensure that
the various mechanisms operate as expected
on the MIM client . The administrator may have locked
some configuration preferences to restrict
changing important settings. When a setting
is locked it is identified by the icon
.
Some sections may not display if the
administrator chooses to hide them.

To send and receive text messages,
transfer files or start a remote connection,
you must first connect to a Mirador Server.
Depending on the business network
configuration, more than one server may be
used. As soon as you log onto the
Messenger Server, the software will announce
your presence to the users on whose contact
list you appear, and continually alert you
when your colleagues sign on or off. Online
users appear in green, offline users appear
in red. Specifying
and/or rearranging the manner, in which
users are grouped in a Contact List, can
significantly increase productivity when
searching a user. Groups can be expanded
and/or collapsed same as with folders
in Windows Explorer, making it possible to
determine the content of each folder.
Nesting groups will offer an uncluttered
view of your contacts.

The message
session window gives immediate awareness as
to the presence and availability of the
person that you are communicating with,
allows to easily access the history of all
communications having been exchanged, etc.
The picture shown below describes the
different controls and segments of a
messenger session:

|
| The Custom
message manager (CMM) allows the creation
and management of a list of prepared text
phrases that are ready for use and re-use in
a text message. Custom phrases are
displayed in a tree and organized in groups
that can be easily managed. The convenience
and simplicity of CMM will increase text
messaging usage as complete phrases can be
sent at the click of a button. The result
is greater efficiency and less errors. |
| When
authorized you may watch, share or control
the screen, keyboard and mouse of any
computer running Mirador Instant Messenger
located anywhere on the LAN or the Internet.
Your remote sessions will take place through
a secure, private connection. |
| Mirador
Instant Messenger includes a complete
administrative tool that allows an
administrator to efficiently control,
manage, configure user accounts and ensure
overall industry compliance rules. The
log section records every occurring event
onto the server and monitors the status of
every client. The history of all
messages having been sent on the messaging
network can be easily searched or filtered
to locate the information that needs to be
reviewed. This feature is
particularly important for an organization
complying with mandated rules such as HIPPA
and other regulations.
|
History can be accessed by the
Administrator
| Event logs
store valuable information when any
significant event in the program occurs. A
new entry is added to the log for all
operational changes, such as the starting
and stopping of services, software
configuration modifications, and software
execution errors. Logs should be used to
monitor the overall Mirador system activity
and security status for the program server.
An administrator using our event viewer can
easily view, export, filter, and report
information that can be useful to identify
and diagnose the source of current system
problems, or help predict potential system
problems. |
Complete Logs to monitor the
activity on your network
The User
management section of Mirador Instant
Messenger enables an administrator to:
- Control the complete lifecycle of
a user account. As an
administrator, you can:
- Create a user account
when MIM is first installed or when
a new employee joins the
organization.
- Modify user privileges
when an employee moves within the
company.
- Suspend an account to
enforce security on the network
- Delete a user account
when an employee leaves the company.

Note:
- Account suspension prevents a
user from logging on the MIM server
while preserving the configuration
settings of the user account.
- Account Deletion removes from
the database any setting related to
the account.
|
When a new user account
is created, the administrator must specify
entries for:
- Account Authentication
At the very
least, the administrator must provide a user
name for each new user, and specify and
verify a secure password.
This
information is used by the server to
authenticate the user. If MIM finds a user
account containing the name entered by the
user, it attempts to validate the password
associated with the account. If the password
can be validated, the user is authenticated
and the login or connection process is
completed. As an administrator, you
may want to group your computers in a
domain and use Active Directory to
efficiently retrieve the contact information
of users in the network. This method allows
creating user accounts quickly and is less
prone to errors since all the user
information is pulled from the already
defined centralized directory database.
Note: You may
use windows logon information for the user
- User Information
Basic information
including a picture of the user should be
entered during this step. You may enter the
information manually or import it directly
from active directory.
- Account Configuration
During this step
various account options, controls and user
preferences are specified. Please
refer to the documentation as there are a
large number of settings and controls
- Contact List Management.
When needed
restrictions can be placed on the list of
contacts that the user is authorized to
communicate with.
- Restrictions.
During this
step, connection
restrictions can be placed to limit the
user to connect the MIM client from a
defined range of authorized IP addresses
only. IP Restrictions
offer a flexible IP security system which
can be configured to allow only the
computers that you want to access the MIM
server to have access. When this mechanism
is enabled all IP's that are added in the
safe IP list are allowed while all others
are blocked. When a connection is
requested from an IP outside the range of
the safe IP list, the connection is
immediately aborted before any login process
can begin.
|
| The Remote
Installation feature gives
administrators the ability to deploy, update
or uninstall the client software throughout
the LAN, without the need to physically be
at each client computer. This convenient
feature will save many hours of tedious work
since all deployment functions can be done
from the server administration software as
long as the computer where the Remote
Installation is physically located on the
LAN or connected to the LAN through a VPN.
Remote Installation finds computers on a
LAN where the client application is not yet
installed and displays useful information
such as the version of the Windows Operating
system version running on each machine. |
Whenever an update is
available from us the administrator can download it
and update his entire network easily and quickly
when enabling our automated update process.
